Each week in my semester long Interpersonal Communication class we discuss a different aspect in Interpersonal Communication. We were given the task to relate two topics discussed each week in a newsletter, and these newsletters would carry a common theme throughout. The first week in class while discussing the theory of self I could not get, "The Brady Bunch" scene of Marcia getting hit in the face with a football out of my head. I guess you could say my topic slowly evolved from here. As an avid Brady Bunch lover I debated this as my theme, but getting into the topics of sex and LGBT I knew that sadly the Brady clan was a little outdated.
From here I was able to adapt my theme to each topic and each week. I knew that Carrie Bradshaw should be the star of my Sex Newsletter, that the crazy whirl wind of, "falling in love" on, "The Bachelor" was something that I could get a little more than carried away with in the Relationship Building Newsletter, and that my spring break would be far from wasted watching all three seasons of, "Downton Abbey" when the Emotion Newsletter was due.
The beauty of the topic was that it could be catered to me, and what I was watching, the shows I grew up loving, and the ones I remember watching with my mom throughout high school every Monday night.

With every new topic discussed in class, I had a new favorite, and with every new newsletter, I had a new favorite page on my website. Each week brought new characters, and some even showed up again. But the very unrealistic worlds that we watched on everyday television I could now tie back to the
reality of the world we live in and communicate in. We all want a love like Claire and Cliff Huxtable, and without sex just like Big and Carrie are infamous for, none of us would be here today. Real topics, tied to the reality of us sitting on our couches watching a very unrealistic world be portrayed and wonder why our lives cannot be like theirs. Its a paradox we all live in, and I was ready to dive in and see what made them so different from us, or not so different.
Guilty pleasures became reasearch topics, a subscription to Netflix was no longer for pure entertainment, and Nick and Night was a frequent stop to spark my imagination. I got the best of both worlds in the project, and that is why I believe I enjoyed it so much.
And now it is your turn. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.
